Tasting Notes

  • Nose - Katie immediately picked up on cherry pie when nosing this - primarily cherry and butter. I noticed the familiar rye characteristics—mint, clove, and warm baking spices—shining through.

  • Palate – The palate is dominated by spice, with a hint of sweetness and nuttiness. The sweetness comes through with notes of vanilla, while the nuttiness is reminiscent of toasted almond. The spice is marked by clove and cinnamon, adding warmth and depth.

  • Finish – The finish is long and lingering, dominated by a strong pepper spice that gradually fades into a gentle warmth. There’s a mild burn that leaves a cozy, inviting sensation, making you want to reach for another sip.

  • Overall – Complex and Inviting.

Food Pairing - Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries

Nav’s Personal Thoughts – This new release from Jim Beam takes the Baker’s 7 Year Bourbon to a whole new level. As a fan of rye, the high-rye mashbill really stands out, adding an extra layer of spice that deepens the complexity. It’s a pour that keeps you coming back for more, and I truly hope this becomes a permanent addition to their lineup. For pairing, I recommend enjoying it with chocolate-covered cherries. The rich, spicy notes of the bourbon complement the sweetness of the chocolate and cherries, creating a truly indulgent experience.
