Tasting Notes
Nose - I am getting strong notes of cherry and vanilla that quickly reminded me of cherry cola. There’s also a hint of caramel and oak that rounds out the nose nicely.
Palate – The first sip greets you with an unexpected smoothness, creating an approachable start. However, as it coats your mouth, the flavors and heat begin to evolve, gradually building into a bold crescendo. The way this pour clings to your lips and palate ensures that its presence is felt, with a burn that lingers long enough to remind you of its full 114 proof. Notes of banana, caramel, and brown sugar provide a subtle sweetness that balances the heat, making this pour both approachable and intriguing.
Finish – Long, smooth, and oaky. The finish has a lingering burn that stays with you for a while to remind you of the high proof.
Overall – The Full Bourbon Experience.
Food Pairing - Banana’s Foster
Nav’s Personal Thoughts – This bottle is special to me for a couple of reasons. First, it’s my introduction to Old Louisville, and I’m really enjoying it so far. Second, it was a special pick for Black Bourbon Run 5, and I’m blessed to have received it as a gift from Paul Holmes, the founder of Black Bourbon Run. On top of its sentimental value, the flavors are fantastic, with notes of banana, caramel, and brown sugar. As i was sipping it I realized it would pair perfectly with Bananas Foster—the richness and sweetness in both complement each other beautifully.
