Tasting Notes

  • Nose - The nose starts off pretty light, but as you sit with it, notes of honey and citrus start to come through. The wheat really shines here, reminding me of freshly baked bread. It’s subtle but enjoyable.

  • Palate – OAt first, I thought it was a little astringent, but Katie nailed it—she said it reminded her of a buttery pie crust. There’s also a hint of nuttiness in the sip that adds a little something extra.

  • Finish – The finish is medium in length with some oak and vanilla. Nothing really jumps out here, but it’s smooth and sweet.

  • Overall – Bready and Sweet.

Food Pairing - Croissant

Nav’s Personal Thoughts – If you’ve ever been to Castle & Key, you know how beautiful the place is. I’ve visited several times, and the grounds are absolutely stunning. They’ve done an incredible job restoring the Old Taylor Distillery, and every visit feels like stepping back into bourbon history.

As for this new wheated bourbon release, I thought it was a solid pour. It’s not bold or overly complex, but it’s a smooth and approachable sipper. Pairing it with a warm, flaky croissant would be the perfect way to enjoy it.
