Tasting Notes

  • Nose - I didn’t even need to bring the Glencairn to my nose to catch this pour’s amazing aroma. It’s that strong and inviting—I’d honestly wear it as a perfume. You get rich notes of vanilla, oak, and leather, with hints of nectarine and cherries. I could just sit here and nose this all day and be completely content.

  • Palate – Just like the nose, the palate is a wow. It’s an explosion of sweet, spicy, and smoky flavors, all working together to make a smooth and balanced pour. I’m picking up rich notes of cocoa, rye, and a touch of lightly burnt caramel.

  • Finish – The finish is long and satisfying. You get a nice wave of oak, followed by a peppery spice that lingers. There’s also a gentle sweetness from honey that rounds it out, leaving a smooth finish that keeps making you go back for more.

  • Overall – Top 5 Pour for 2024.

Food Pairing - Charcuterie Board

Nav’s Personal Thoughts – There was a lot of excitement surrounding this bottle when it was first released, and for good reason—it clinched Best in Category at Fred Minnick's ASCOT Awards and earned a coveted Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. After tasting it myself, I can say the hype is well-deserved. The nose, palate, and finish are all exceptional, and this pour has easily earned a spot in my Top 5 for 2024. If I had to pick the perfect food pairing, it would be a charcuterie board. The diverse range of flavors on the board beautifully complements the equally dynamic profile of this bourbon.
